Ian Martin is working with a reputable Nuclear manufacturing facility that is seeking a Network Administrator to join the team on a full-time permanent basis. Due to growth, we are hiring a New Network Administrator to support the Canadian Network Infrastructure. We are seeking a “Jack of all trades” in terms of network technology that can be available for On-call support for the IT infrastructure including network systems, voice/video and server/storage systems.
DAILY RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE:
- Configure, test, and maintain various network devices and services (e.g., routers, switches, firewalls, load balancers, VPN, QoS, BGP)
- Perform network maintenance and system upgrades including service packs, patches, hot fixes and security configurations.
- Supporting and maintaining Windows 2012 – Windows 2019 servers
- Manage and monitor voice and video system.
- Coordinate the timely deployment of new, updated or enhanced software (including patches, service packs, etc.) to network devices, performing thorough testing, change management request(s), verification, and documentation of suitability.
- Maximize network performance by monitoring performance; troubleshooting network problems and outages; scheduling upgrades; collaborating with network architects on network optimization.
- Create and maintain documentation as it relates to network configuration, network mapping, processes, and service records.
- Provide design, engineering, and technical expertise regarding integration of new and existing technology into IT systems architecture.
- Design and develop support tools, infrastructure monitoring capabilities, and automation of deployment/troubleshooting routines.
- Conduct routine hardware and software audits to ensure compliance with established standards, policies, and configuration guidelines.
- Proactively identify system deficiencies and assist in root cause analysis of system issues to minimize impact and future occurrence. Escalate issues as warranted.
TECHNICAL KNOWLEDGE:
- Current technical certifications in Network and server fields (e.g., CCNA, CCNP, etc.)
- Microsoft server related certification(s) an asset
- Technical expertise of Cisco equipment, routing, switching, wireless and voice/video.
- Technical expertise in network services (EIGRP, BGP, QoS, MPLS).
- Technical expertise of ASA and Fortinet firewalls.
- Technical expertise of managing multiple DMVPN sites.
- Practical knowledge of Active Directory and DNS.
- Practical knowledge of Fiber/iSCSI storage area networks.
EDUCATION AND BEHAVIOUR:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Information Technology or related field.
- Five years of experience in Information Technology or related field.
- Ability to solve complex, high pressure issues in a fast-paced environment.
- Ability to function as an effective team member.
- Always wear appropriate personal protective equipment when required.
- Sets a positive example by maintaining a respectful attitude, cooperating with co-workers, management, and internal and external customers.
- Be a productive team member and help meet established departmental and Company goals.
- Report to work for your regularly scheduled shifts on time and ready to work.
- Effectively give and receive feedback and willingly ask questions and seek direction when needed.
